Just a Part of the Past

It is one of life’s tragedies when you meet someone, but due to unexpected circumstances and misunderstandings, becomes someone you knew. Or when you can walk right past someone who was once a big part of your life, and how you used to be able to talk to them for hours about the little nothings in life, and now you can barely look at them, and all you have left is that aching feeling in your soul.

You remember how you laugh with them. You remember all the good times, even the bad times. It makes you think of what could have been if some things were changed. What could have been if you made a different choice. What could have been if you haven't done what you did. It makes you think of the possibilities and chances that you could have been happier.

At times you pass by to the place you used to hang out and memories flash your mind how you felt that day. You remember how you used to think of nothing but this person. How he used to mean the world to you. How his smile brought you courage. How comfortable his arms felt. How you talk about the silliest things and spend the night dreaming. You wish to bring it back but you can't.

Everyday must be the same for you but when you try to look back, you notice that things have changed. You get to be friends with those you didn't expect to be friends with. People you know before become strangers. And you can't do something about it because you can't go back and change things the way you wanted it. They become just a part of the past that made you what you are today. You can be thankful or you can be regretful, but that doesn't change the fact that the best thing that you can do for now is to accept things and live the most out of life. Life goes on whether you're happy or not. And life becomes more meaningful if you focus on what you have now rather than concentrate on getting back to what used to be.
